(photo) Ted Bush has been with BioInformatics since sometime in 1998, when it labored along under the terrible name, "Biostatistics and Epidemiology Research Computing." Ted's job then, as now, was a hodge-podge of assorted tasks loosely lumped into the catch-all category: Tech Writer.

In addition to random duties assigned him at any moment, Ted's tasks include but are not limited to: beta-testing the programmers' data-collection programs, creating user manuals for said programs for off-site researchers to ignore while struggling with said programs, and assisting in the design of our Albatross project, the Multi-Purpose Interactive Tracking System.

Ted spends quite a bit of time working on the Colorectal Cancer Family Registry. He serves as liaison between the BioInformatics-based Data Center and the various sites around the country that participate in the Registry. He also provides computer support to the Dartmouth data-collectors and generally spends a great deal of time holding hands, soothing angered brows and asking plaintively, "Did you read the manual?"

Previously, Ted has trained as an elementary school teacher and spent six years working for Congress. His most telling achievements there were crashing an inordinate amount of receptions and assisting Saudi Arabia in acquiring F-15s, "to improve World Peace through superior firepower."

Ted is a 1989 graduate of Dartmouth College, a distinction he shares with coworker Dave Aman who then, as now, pretended not to know him. As a devoted Mac-user, he is the sole voice of reason in a sea of WinTel craziness. A blackbelt in Shorin-ryu karate, Ted has turned his attentions to the intricacies of Bagua and chen style tai chi. He loves reading, ice cream and hanging with his wife, Cheryl and two year old son, Eli.
